The New England Society’s 209th Annual Dinner Dance took place on Friday, November 14, at the Metropolitan Club in New York City. The Society honored Frederick B. Whittemore with the Reginald T. Townsend Award for his outstanding achievements representing the finest attributes of the New England character.

Scott Glascock was honored with the J.P. Morgan Award for his outstanding service to the Society, including his dedication as 95th President.

About the 2014 Townsend Award Honoree: Frederick B. Whittemore

Mr. Whittemore is advisory director at Morgan Stanley, having held positions at the firm for over 50 years, becoming partner in 1967, managing director in 1970, and advisory director in 1989. He has served as the chairman of the National Syndicate Committee, governor and vice chairman of the American Stock Exchange, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and is a lifetime trustee of The Aspen Institute.

A longtime supporter of higher education, Mr. Whittemore also serves on the boards of the Dartmouth College's Tuck School of Business Administration and the University of New Hampshire's Whittemore School of Business Administration.

In addition, he has been a valued New England Society Member since 1962.
