From Firewood to Financial Aid: The Scholarship Funding Campaign
In May 2007, the New England Society launched its first campaign to raise $300,000 for its scholarship fund. The Society’s Scholarship Program, established in 1953, awards scholarships to bright and deserving students from the New York City area who are in need of financial assistance while attending New England colleges and universities.
With the average college tuition, room and board reaching $45,000 annually, the need to increase the amount of the Society’s scholarships as well as the need to create additional scholarships is critical. The response to the Campaign has been overwhelming, as we are already more than 50% towards our goal!
These scholarships have a significant impact on their recipients. Eric Rodriguez, Harvard University Class of 2010 said “Receiving this scholarship has truly been a blessing. It has taken a huge load off my shoulders; thus, I am able to focus more on my academics, instead of having to focus on making them possible. I am truly thankful and will sincerely be forever grateful.”
Please help us uphold the Society’s 200+ year tradition of assistance by donating to the Campaign.
