The Junior Committee of the New England Society in the City of New York will be holding a Wine Tasting in honor of the first NES reception opened to women, which was held on February 6, 1872 at Delmonico's in lower Manhattan. The original 1872 event netted a $281.15 profit and “all agreed to hold it annually”.
In honor of the many women who have contributed to NES, we will again be in Lower Manhattan at the Down Town Association on February 8, 2017, a mere 145 years later, for what promises to be a fun evening. Please look forward to passed hors d'oeuvres, cheese and a selection of red and white wines while members of the Junior Committee share fun, historical facts from 212 years of NES history.
